The late great surrealist filmmaker David Lynch and French fashion designer Christian Louboutin. Notably known for his luxury red bottom shoes. Collaborated on a series of conceptual high heels and cinematic photographs titled “Fetish” in 2007.

This match made in heaven began when David Lynch asked Christian Louboutin to draw some shoes for his exhibit at the Cartier Foundation in 2007. Christian agreed but in turn asked if David would photograph a limited collection of fetish shoes he would later design and produce solely for the photoshoot. Many of the shoes weren’t even meant to be practical or comfortable to walk in, with one concept even being a siamese shoe (2 shoes fused at the heel)

For the Photoshoot they made it a point to not cast skinny models as the shoes were difficult to walk in and they felt it would express torture and bondage not fetish.

So instead they casted dancers Nouka and Baby from the Crazy Horse in paris.

“It cannot be photographed on a skinny girl because then it’s going to look really like torture, and fetish has nothing to do with bondage,”

The exhibit was Shown at the Pierre Passebon Gallery during Paris Fashion Week in 2007. And produced a limited run of 5 pairs for each design.
