With last minute changes and edits forced on the film by the infamous Harvey Weinstein. The sequel to The Crow (1994) The Crow: City of Angels (1996) was changed from a tragic love story to a complete retread of the first film. At the dismay of both director Tim Pope and screen writer David S. Goyer.

The edits left the film a confusing mess by cutting half of the original story and adding flashbacks. In 1997 a “directors cut” that Tim Pope still had no part of was released exclusively on Pay Per View. For the few who saw this cut claim it to be alot better than the theatrical release.

Yet this mythical cut of the film has been missing for 20+ years with no home video ever released to the public. Until then we can only hope some guy recorded the PPV on VHS back in 1997 and still has it laying around somewhere. The experience discouraged Tim Pope from making another feature film for years.
